How to Prepare Your Home for a Hot Summer
With the weather warming up and summer fun to be had, it is easy to overlook the importance of preparing your home for the summer heat. Here are a few tips to protect your energy bill and the comfort of a cool house.
- Inspect your windows. Are your windows properly sealed? If your seal/caulk is peeling, you may be receiving some unwanted warm air.
- Replace your air filter. Your air filter should be checked once a month in the summer because it is used much more often throughout this season.
- Shut the door! You wouldn't leave your refrigerator open for an extended amount of time. Shut your front door to keep in as much cool air as you can.
- Strategically install fans. Fans can be utilized to pull warm air from unwanted areas and push cool air in the preferred areas of your home. The center of a ceiling is typically the best area to place a fan.
